Mink Lakes Basin Backpacking

Been a while since we've done anything cool, so I figured I'd put up some pics from an overnight trip Mel and I took into the Mink Lakes Basin here in Oregon (probably two months ago?). This was our first time visiting this area, but I managed to get some tips from Josh and Mike that were really useful (including one that scored us and awesome campsite). The area was forested and somewhat flat (at least by comparison) so we made good time past a half-dozen lakes to Mink, where we camped. The spot we stayed at really reminded me of a miniture lake george, and although it was pretty cold I managed a quick dunk. We really only saw two other groups that day, so there was a neat feeling that we had the place to ourselves.

The dog was loving this patch of moss we came across

...it had to be 8-10 inches thick in places. Really neat.

I though this was a cool shot at cliff lake

...this one too :)

Cliff Lake Shelter: This thing was awesome, folks take really good care of it.

Rocks by our camp

Comic relief: throwing waterlogged sticks in the water and watching Bella try to figure out why they weren't floating.

Our wicked campsite

It was pretty cold that morning and Her Majesty wasn't ready to get up...
