Pup Creek - 7/15/12

Here is a quick photo set from a creek descent that Jerry and I did this past weekend. All in all it turned out to be a pretty good adventure. Where we started the creek was basically just a trickle, but it picked up a decent amount of flow as we continued down. I'd say we pretty much nailed the conditions: just enough water to make it splashy and fun but not too pushy or scary. Not shown in the pictures was about a dozen slippery-rock-induced wipe outs and a whole lot of schwacking through salmonberry over and under massive old growth logs. Beautiful place. The last waterfall was pretty big, and for a few minutes I was wondering if we had enough rope to pull it off... In the end we had plenty, but it looked rather big from the top. After we finished we found that some asshole had taken the time to slash the tires on my mountain bike (which I had intended to ride back to the top)... Thankfully some folks in a jacked up pickup took pity on my plight (as I was pathetically attempting to jog up a 20% grade as it was getting dark) and gave me a ride back to the top... My only regret was that I didn't have more than a sixpack to reward them with for their kindness!

Perpetua and Siletz

Just a couple of photos from a misty trail run day at the coast, followed by some more photos of a low water canoe trip down one of the lower portions of the Siletz River. Awesome!
