Karen and I took a road trip around the Florida Keys this February. We started in Bahai Honda State Park where we rented a cabin for a few nights and explored the beaches.

This is the beach where we spent a day swimming and trying to teach me to use snorkel gear
After a few days at Bahia Honda State Park we headed down to Key West to catch our boat that would take us 70mi off the coast to Dry Tortugas National Park.
Me on the boat feeling a bit sick
Fort Jefferson at Dry Tortugas National Park
There are only six campsites on the island so we pretty much had the place to ourselves
Our first day was cold and windy so we explored Fort Jefferson and walked on the beaches
Home-made boat used by Cubans to reach the US
We spent part of our night walking along the moat wall searching for lobsters with flashlight. The rest was spent trying to see the lunar eclipse through all the clouds
The island we was home to lots of terns and pelicans
When we woke up in the morning it was warm and sunny with little wind. Perfect for snorkeling.
Some of the fish we saw while snorkeling (they're in there somewhere...)
The hermit crab that wouldn't stay off Karen's towel
We spent our last night in walking around Key West
